Things I Would Like My Clients to Know as a Witch

Things I Would Like My Clients to Know as a Witch

There are some things I have wanted to say for a long time, and not because I am angry. Not because I want to complain about my clients. And certainly not because I regret the work that I do. Quite the opposite, I love what I do.

I have been walking the path of witchcraft for many years. I have performed rituals, worked with spirits and deities, studied different forms of magic, witnessed beautiful manifestations, unexpected turns of events, disappointments, breakthroughs, synchronicities and situations that reminded me again and again that magic is not something that can always be reduced to a simple formula.

But there is something that sometimes gets forgotten when a person purchases a ritual from a witch: There is a human being on the other side of the ritual. And I would like my clients to remember that.

I am a witch, but I am also a human being

When you purchase a ritual from me, you are purchasing my time, my knowledge, my experience, my energy and my work. But you are NOT purchasing ownership of me.This distinction may sound obvious, but it is surprisingly important.

I can perform the ritual you have requested. I can prepare the working, establish the intention, dedicate the necessary time to it and carry out the spiritual work according to my own practice. But once that work has been completed, your life remains your life.

Your choices remain your choices, your relationships remain your relationships, your emotions remain your emotions, and your decisions after the ritual are still yours to make.

I cannot live your life for you. I cannot be responsible for every conversation you have with the person you are trying to influence, every message you send, every argument you start, every decision you make out of fear, or every impulsive action you take because you became anxious while waiting. Magic does not remove personal responsibility and neither does hiring a witch.

A service does not mean that I become responsible for your entire life

This is probably one of the most important things I would like people to understand. When I perform a ritual for you, I am providing a service. That service has a beginning and an end: I perform the work that you commissioned from me. I do my part. But I am not suddenly responsible for everything that happens in your life afterwards.

If you are waiting for someone to contact you, I cannot spend every hour of every day monitoring that person's behaviour. If you are waiting for a relationship to develop, I cannot control every decision made by two human beings. If you are performing a prosperity ritual, I cannot make every financial decision for you. If you have asked for reconciliation, I cannot force you to communicate wisely, patiently and maturely with the other person. And if you become frightened after the ritual and begin making decisions from a place of panic, those decisions belong to you, and this doesn't mean I care any less about the work I do for you. It simply means that there has to be a line between my work and your personal life.

Please do not let anxiety become the ritual

After all these years of doing this work, I have noticed that the ritual is often not the difficult part. What many people struggle with is what comes after: waiting, wondering, and not knowing exactly when or how things will unfold.

They check their phone, they look for signs, they analyse every message, they wonder whether a certain number appearing three times means something, they ask whether the person thought about them that morning, they ask whether the spell is working...

Then they ask again.

And again.

And again.

Eventually, the entire experience becomes centred around anxiety. And this is something I would strongly encourage my clients to avoid. Magic requires intention, but intention is not the same thing as obsession.

There is a profound difference between saying: "This is what I desire, and I trust the work I have undertaken." and: "I need proof right now that something is happening."

The second state can lead you into impulsive behaviour. You may send messages you would not normally send. You may confront someone unnecessarily. You may suddenly change your behaviour because you are frightened that the ritual is not working. You may interpret every small event as evidence for or against the spell. And before you know it, you are no longer allowing yourself to live your life, you are simply waiting. And that is not what I want for my clients.

You do not need to ask me about the ritual every day

I understand why people ask. When something matters deeply to you, uncertainty can be uncomfortable; You want reassurance, confirmation... You want someone to tell you, "Yes. It is happening. Do not worry." I understand that completely. But reassurance can become a cycle. One question gives you relief for an hour. Then the doubt returns, so you ask another question. Then another... and, eventually, no answer is enough.

This is why I sometimes have to create boundaries around repeated questions concerning the same ritual.

It does not mean that I do not care about you. It does not mean that I have forgotten your ritual. And it certainly does not mean that I am ignoring your situation. It simply means that I cannot spend my entire day answering the same question in different forms.

I have other clients, I have my own work, I have responsibilities, I have a private life. I eat, I sleep, I leave my computer, I have moments when I need silence. (And yes, sometimes I simply want to sit down with a cup of coffee and exist without being available to anyone!). That does not make me a less dedicated witch.

Behind every ritual, there is a person

This is perhaps the part I wish people remembered the most. When you purchase a ritual online, it can be very easy to forget that the person receiving your message is not an automated system. There is a real person reading your words!

The fact that my work is spiritual does not mean that I exist outside ordinary human reality. And I still deserve to be treated with basic respect.

Please do not ask me to check your ritual for free

I also want to address something that comes up fairly often: asking me to check a ritual, inspect its progress or perform additional spiritual work to see what is happening, without purchasing a reading or another service.

I understand the curiosity behind this. If you have had a ritual performed and you are waiting for a particular outcome, naturally you may want to know whether everything is still moving in the right direction. However, checking a ritual is still work. It requires my time, my attention and, depending on what you are asking me to do, additional spiritual or divinatory work. It is not something I can simply do every time somebody sends me a message asking, "Can you check if it is still working?" If you want a proper reading or an energetic check, you are welcome to purchase the corresponding service, just as you would with any other professional service I offer.

This is not about being greedy or refusing to help someone who is worried. It is about recognising that my time and my work have value. I would never expect another professional to repeatedly provide their service for free simply because I had already purchased something from them, and I think the same principle should apply here. Purchasing one ritual does not automatically include unlimited readings, energetic checks or ongoing spiritual consultations.

Please do not expect an exact date

Another thing I have learned over the years is that many people want a very specific answer to one particular question: "When will it happen?" I completely understand the desire for a date. Having a date gives the mind something concrete to hold onto, and when you are waiting for something important, knowing that you should expect it on a certain day can feel comforting. Unfortunately, magical work does not allow me to honestly promise that something will happen on a specific date.

When I give a timeframe, it is an estimation based on the nature of the work, the circumstances surrounding the situation and my own experience. It is not a deadline. There is an enormous difference between saying that something may manifest within a certain period and saying, "This will happen on August 28th." I can give you an approximate timeframe when appropriate, but I will not invent an exact date simply because it is the answer you would prefer to hear.

One of the most frustrating situations is when somebody takes an estimated timeframe completely literally. For example, I may give an approximate period of around four weeks, and when exactly four weeks have passed and nothing obvious has happened, the person immediately becomes distressed and starts asking why the ritual has "failed." But four weeks is not a magical expiration date. If I say approximately four weeks, I mean approximately four weeks. It does not mean that something has to happen at 11:59 PM on the final day or that the ritual suddenly stops existing because the calendar has reached a particular number.

Please remember that an estimate is there to give you a general idea, not something to count down to every single day. And when that self-imposed deadline passes, the anxiety can become much worse than it was before. You begin assuming that something has gone wrong simply because reality did not follow the exact schedule you created in your head.

I would much rather be honest with you than give you a false sense of certainty. If I could genuinely predict the exact day and hour when every ritual would manifest, I would tell you. But I cannot, and I will never pretend that I can just to make someone feel better temporarily.

You do not need to message me every time you become worried

I know that this may sound strict, but it comes from experience rather than a lack of compassion. When someone becomes anxious about their ritual, the natural reaction is often to contact the person who performed it and ask for reassurance. Then, a few hours later, the same doubt may return and another message is sent. Eventually, the conversation can become a continuous cycle of asking, answering, worrying and asking again.

I genuinely understand why this happens, especially when the subject of the ritual is something emotionally important such as love, money, family or the future. But there comes a point where reassurance stops helping. If you need me to repeatedly confirm that the ritual is still active every time you feel anxious, then the problem is no longer the ritual itself; it is the anxiety surrounding the situation.

Please trust that if there is something genuinely important that I need to communicate to you, I will do so. You do not need to remind me about your ritual every few days, and you do not need to ask the same question in five different ways hoping that eventually I will give you a different answer. I remember the work I perform, and I take my commitments seriously. At the same time, I need to be able to work, rest and live my own life without being permanently available to reassure people about something they have already commissioned.

That is one of the reasons I encourage my clients to step back after a ritual has been performed. You have done your part by setting your intention and commissioning the work. I have done my part by performing it. Now there is also a part that belongs to you: letting go enough to continue living.

Respect is not optional

I am a very patient person, and I understand that people come to me because something matters deeply to them. Sometimes they are heartbroken, sometimes they are frightened about what is going to happen, and sometimes they simply feel that they have reached a point in their lives where they desperately need something to change. I would never expect someone who is going through an emotional situation to approach magical work with complete detachment. You are allowed to be nervous, you are allowed to have doubts, and you are absolutely allowed to ask questions. What I do expect, however, is that those feelings do not become an excuse for treating another person badly.

There is a very clear difference between being anxious and being disrespectful. I will always do my best to communicate with kindness and patience, but I will not accept insults, aggression, harassment, entitlement or the idea that purchasing something from me gives anyone permission to speak to me however they please. Money does not purchase access to another person's dignity. You can be disappointed without being cruel, you can be worried without becoming demanding, and you can ask questions without treating the person answering you as though they have to defend themselves. No matter how important your situation may be, there is still a human being on the other side of the screen who deserves to be treated with basic courtesy.

I cannot be online twenty-four hours a day

This may seem obvious, but after years of working online I have realised that it is worth saying anyway: I am not permanently sitting in front of my computer waiting for messages. I have a business, but I also have a life, and there are times when I am working on rituals, dealing with other clients, doing things around my home, spending time with people I care about, sleeping, or simply taking some time away from the internet. If I do not answer immediately, it does not mean that something has gone wrong with your ritual, and if several hours pass before I reply, it does not mean that I have forgotten about you or abandoned the work I have performed.

I also do not believe that being constantly available would make me a better witch. Quite the opposite. I need time away from my work in order to rest and come back to it with a clear mind and the energy that it deserves. A witch who never allows herself to rest is eventually going to become exhausted, and exhaustion does not improve spiritual work. So please understand that when I step away from my computer or take time for myself, I am not neglecting my clients. I am simply being a human being with a life outside my inbox.

Your ritual is not a substitute for your own life

One of the things I want most for my clients is for them to experience magic as something empowering rather than something that makes them increasingly dependent on another person. Your ritual should be something you incorporate into your life, not something that takes over your life completely. If you are waiting for someone to return, continue going to work, seeing your friends, enjoying your hobbies and making plans. If you are waiting for financial changes, do not spend every waking hour checking your bank account. If you are waiting for a manifestation, try not to make your entire emotional state depend on whether you notice a sign on a particular day.

I honestly believe that one of the healthiest ways to approach magical work is to allow it to exist in the background while you continue living in the foreground. You have asked for the work to be done, I have performed it, and now you still have your own life to live. You do not have to put everything else on hold while you wait for an outcome. In fact, sometimes stepping away from the situation for a while is exactly what allows you to regain perspective and stop interpreting every little event through the lens of the ritual.

I care about my clients, but I cannot live for them

There is sometimes a misconception that setting boundaries means that a person has become cold or stopped caring. I do not see it that way at all. I can care deeply about the people who come to me while still maintaining healthy professional boundaries. I can wish the very best for you without being available every minute of the day, and I can take your ritual seriously without taking responsibility for every decision you make afterwards. I can listen when you are worried and offer whatever guidance is appropriate within the service you have purchased, but I cannot become responsible for eliminating every uncertainty from your life.

These things can exist at the same time. Caring about someone does not mean carrying their entire life on your shoulders, and being compassionate does not mean making yourself endlessly available. After years of practicing witchcraft and working with clients, I have learned that boundaries are not the opposite of compassion. They are what allow compassion to exist without becoming unhealthy for either person. I am here to do my work, to share my experience and to offer the services I provide, but I am not here to take over your life or become responsible for everything that happens in it.

So, my beloved clients...

When you come to me for magical work, I want you to know that I take what I do seriously. I do not see my rituals as meaningless transactions, and I do not approach them as though I am simply completing an order and moving on to the next one. There is intention behind my work, as well as years of experience, preparation, time and personal energy. When I accept a ritual, I understand that there is usually something important behind the reason why someone has come to me, and I respect that.

But I would also like you to remember something equally important: I am a person. I have a life beyond this website, I have responsibilities that have nothing to do with magic, I have days when I am tired and days when I need silence, and sometimes I simply need to step away from the screen. None of that means that I care any less about the work I do. It simply means that I am not an endless source of attention, reassurance or availability.

So when you commission a ritual from me, do your part as well. Give yourself permission to continue living your life instead of watching the clock and waiting for something to happen. Try not to let anxiety turn the waiting period into an obsession, and remember that repeatedly asking for reassurance will not necessarily bring you closer to the outcome you want. Trust the work enough to give yourself some distance from it, and remember that constant communication is not the same thing as progress.

Above all, I want magic to make you feel more connected to your own power, not less. I want you to walk away from magical work feeling that you have taken an intentional step towards something you desire, while still remembering that your choices, your life and your future belong to you. I am here as a witch to perform my work, to offer my experience and to walk beside you for that part of the journey.

But you are still the author of your own life.
