Protection Tips for Influencers, Coming From a Black Magic Witch
Being visible online can be wonderful, but it also comes with a side of the experience that people rarely talk about. When thousands, or even millions, of people can see your face, your home, your relationships, your achievements and the things you are building for yourself, you are naturally going to attract all kinds of attention. Some people will genuinely support you, some will simply be curious about your life, and others may project their own frustrations, jealousy or negativity onto you without you ever having done anything to them.
As a witch, I believe that energetic protection becomes particularly important when you are constantly exposed to other people's attention. You do not need to be frightened of your audience or assume that every unpleasant comment carries some kind of supernatural danger, because that can quickly become exhausting in itself. What I do recommend is developing a few simple habits that help you keep your energy grounded and your personal life somewhat separate from the enormous amount of attention that comes with being an influencer.
Here are some of the things I would personally recommend if you have a public presence and want to protect yourself from negative energy, envy and unwanted attention.
Be Careful With How Much of Yourself You Put Online
The easiest way to protect your energy is to become more selective about what you share. I know that social media encourages people to document absolutely everything, and sometimes sharing your daily life is precisely what makes an influencer's content interesting, but there are certain parts of your life that can remain yours alone.
You do not have to show your audience every relationship, every argument, every important plan or every personal change as it happens. There is something very valuable about allowing certain things to develop privately before thousands of strangers know about them. This becomes especially important when something is still fragile or very important to you, because the more people who have access to something, the more opinions, projections and unwanted attention you potentially invite into it.
Think of privacy as another form of protection. You can still be authentic, open and connected with your audience while keeping certain areas of your life behind a closed door.
Do Not Let Every Opinion Enter Your Head
When you have a public platform, people are going to have opinions about you. Some will love what you do, some will dislike it, and some will make it their personal mission to explain to you why they dislike it. If you read enough comments, messages and discussions about yourself, eventually you can start carrying other people's opinions around with you even after you have closed your phone.
This is where you need to become very selective about what you allow to reach you. You do not have to read every comment, answer every criticism or investigate what people are saying about you elsewhere. If a particular account consistently makes you feel angry, insecure or drained, block it. If certain comments affect you more than they are worth, let somebody else moderate them. You are not obligated to give every stranger direct access to your emotional world simply because they can find your profile.
Your attention is a limited resource, and when you are constantly surrounded by other people's projections, protecting that attention becomes extremely important.
Do Not Announce Everything Before It Happens
This is something I particularly recommend to influencers who are constantly sharing their plans with their audience. Sometimes you can feel a huge difference between announcing something after it has happened and telling thousands of people about it while it is still taking shape.
There is a certain vulnerability that comes with telling everyone about your next relationship, your new business idea, your financial plans, your upcoming move or the opportunity you are hoping will work out. Suddenly, something that was previously yours becomes a public subject that hundreds of people can comment on, speculate about and project their own feelings onto.
You do not have to hide your achievements. Enjoy them, celebrate them and share them when you want to. I simply recommend learning to recognise which things are better protected while they are still developing. Sometimes it is perfectly fine to let people discover the finished result without having access to every step that came before it.
Clean Your Space Regularly
If you work from home or spend a significant amount of time creating content there, I strongly recommend keeping your physical environment clean and pleasant. Your home is the place where you should be able to disconnect from the outside world, so I like the idea of treating it as your own personal altar, a space where outside energy does not get to accumulate indefinitely.
You do not need an elaborate ceremony every time somebody leaves a nasty comment on your Instagram. Open your windows, clean your room, change your bedsheets, burn an appropriate cleansing incense or simply spend some time putting your space back into order. Physical cleanliness and energetic cleanliness can work beautifully together, and there is something surprisingly effective about coming home after being surrounded by people all day and deliberately creating a feeling of freshness around yourself.
Take a Shower After Events or Large Social Gatherings
Influencers often attend launches, parties, conventions, festivals, shoots and other environments where they are surrounded by large numbers of people for several hours. You are talking to strangers, shaking hands, taking photographs, being watched, listening to conversations and constantly receiving stimulation from the people around you.
When I come home after a socially intense environment, I personally like to treat a shower as a way of drawing a line between the outside world and my private space. You can make it as simple or as spiritual as you want. Imagine the day being washed away while you shower, focus on releasing tension from your body, and allow yourself to mentally disconnect from everyone you have interacted with.
Be Careful With People Who Constantly Want Access to You
When you become successful, not everyone who suddenly wants to be close to you necessarily has your best interests at heart. Some people genuinely admire you and want to build a friendship, while others may be interested in your audience, your connections, your lifestyle or simply the benefits that come with being associated with you.
Pay attention to how people make you feel after spending time with them. If you consistently leave interactions feeling exhausted, anxious, uncomfortable or strangely depleted, that is worth noticing. You do not need to accuse the person of secretly having bad intentions, but you are allowed to create distance when a relationship repeatedly feels unhealthy for you.
You are also allowed to say no. You do not have to meet everyone who asks, answer every personal message, accept every invitation or give strangers access to your home and private life. Having a public career does not mean having a completely public existence.
Do Not Obsess Over Who Is Jealous of You
This is particularly important because I have seen people become almost as obsessed with identifying jealous people as they originally were with the success they were trying to protect. Suddenly every unfollow is jealousy, every strange comment is envy, every person who does not congratulate you is secretly wishing for your downfall, and before long you are spending more time looking for enemies than enjoying your own achievements. Be careful with that mindset! You will never know what every person thinks about you, and you do not need to.
If someone is jealous, that is their problem. You do not have to investigate it, confront them or spend hours trying to understand why they feel that way. Keep your boundaries, protect what matters to you and continue moving forward. The less emotional importance you give to other people's envy, the less power it has over your peace.
Keep Your Personal Energy Strong
Spiritual protection works best when it becomes part of a wider approach to taking care of yourself. Sleep properly, eat, rest between projects, spend time away from social media and make sure that your entire existence does not revolve around being watched.
This may sound very ordinary, but I think it is one of the most overlooked forms of protection for people who work online. When you are exhausted, overstimulated and constantly consuming other people's opinions, everything feels heavier. Taking a break from your phone, spending an afternoon without posting anything, going for a walk or simply having a completely private evening can do more for your sense of balance than constantly searching for another protection technique. Your spiritual practice should support your life, and your everyday habits can support your spiritual practice.
Use a Protection Spell
If you are an influencer, content creator or public figure and you feel that you are constantly exposed to other people's attention, a protection spell can be a useful addition to your spiritual practice. Protection magic can be focused on creating a stronger energetic boundary around you, helping you feel less affected by unwanted attention, envy and negative intentions directed towards you.
I particularly recommend this to people whose work requires them to be visible all the time, because you are dealing with a much greater volume of external attention than the average person. You may have hundreds of people looking at your content every day, thousands of people forming opinions about you, and sometimes people who become emotionally invested in your life despite never having met you.
I offer a Protection Spell for this purpose, which you can find here. You can incorporate this kind of work into your existing spiritual practice alongside the practical habits mentioned throughout this article.
I Also Have an Exclusive Ritual for Influencers
Since we are talking about influencers and public figures, I also want to mention another ritual I have created specifically for people who work through social media and want to take their success further. My Influencer Ritual is designed for those who want to attract greater visibility, recognition, opportunities and growth in their online career, whether you are already established or still trying to build your audience and make your work more widely noticed.
Being successful online involves much more than simply having followers. There are collaborations, opportunities, engagement, visibility, networking, creative momentum and the ability to keep growing in an environment where thousands of people are constantly competing for attention. This ritual is focused on helping you energetically support that side of your career and attract circumstances that can contribute to your growth as an influencer.
Protect Your Success Without Becoming Afraid of It
One final thing I want to say is that protection should never turn into paranoia. You do not need to look at every stranger as a potential enemy or become frightened every time someone does not like you. Being visible means that you will inevitably encounter opinions, jealousy, criticism and people who simply do not understand you, and learning how to coexist with that reality is part of having a public life.
Protect yourself, keep certain things private, cleanse your space, take regular breaks from social media, be selective about who gets close to you and use spiritual protection if it resonates with your practice. Most importantly, continue enjoying the very reason you became visible in the first place.
You worked for your success. You are allowed to enjoy it, and you are allowed to protect it, too. ;-)
